There is a New Cop in Congress

Captain Clay "Cajun John Wayne" Higgins will be the next cop in Congress. Captain Higgins received 56.11% of the vote, while Scott Angelle received 43.89%. The results were finalized late night on December 10th, 2016. After Scott Angelle received 28.56% of the vote and Captain Clay Higgins received 26.50% of the vote on November 8th, the election for the 3rd Congressional District went to a runoff election that was held on December 10th since no candidate secured 50% of the vote to win. Police Officer Severely Injured

(Credit: Southern Counties News)   An Orange Police Officer (CA) was severely injured after being hit by a vehicle while on a call on Saturday morning. Around 3:05am officers were dealing with a vehicle that was obstructing a roadway, one of the responding officers found a man asleep in his truck. During the investigation, a car crashed into the patrol that was behind the truck and also struck the officer who was standing outside his patrol car. First Gunfire Death for WA in Nearly 5 Years

Washington State went nearly five years without a shooting death of a police officer. The last being when Trooper Tony Radulescu was shot and killed on February 23, 2012 during a traffic stop. Other officers have passed since then in the state, due to medical incidents and accidents, but evil struck just hours before the calendars flipped to December in 2016. Tacoma Police Officer Jake Gutierrez was shot and killed during a domestic disturbance on November 30th, 2016. Police Officers Deliver Mail That Was Stolen

Howard County Police Officers (Maryland) had stopped a suspicious truck that was seen in a neighborhood where packages were being stolen from doorsteps. During the stop, it was found out that the suspects were indeed stealing packages and they were arrested. Since the Christmas season is upon us, the officers wanted to go not just above, but beyond the call of duty. The entire department joined together to deliver nearly one hundred stolen packages that were recovered from the van.
